them towards doing research on their chosen
topic to create a radio programme. In the
process of content creation, they practically
learn design thinking, exploring new ideas,
critical thinking, understanding and respecting
different perspectives, conflict management
and finding solutions, team building,
leadership, listening skills, negotiation skills,
collaboration and cooperation and
coordination. They learn doing research around
the issue identified by going into the root
causes. Children and youth learn to express
themselves more confidently, creatively and
innovatively by producing their own radio
programmes. They also learn public speaking
and communication skills. Through School
Radio, children, youth, parents and community
express their views, share their ideas and find
solutions to the issues they face. Whatever they
learn on School Radio platform, they apply in
life to be able to become responsible citizen. So
far, children and youth have created 90% of the
content on School Radio.
Three thousand eight hundred and eighty
students and two hundred and seventy teachers
of fifty schools in seventeen districts in four
states of India are trained by School Radio to
produce Radio Programmes on their own.
